To find the perfect hotel, you need to know where to look.
Travel guides can be a logical starting point for choosing hotels, but the downside is that they usually only list a few hotels in a given location. They also only provide a brief summary and usually don’t include pictures, so you should learn more about them before you commit.
Reasons to use hotel booking sites

4. hotels usually prefer bookings made through these booking sites because they don’t want negative reviews. So if there is a problem, they will often give preference to people who have booked through booking sites rather than people who have booked directly with the hotel. When I checked into a hotel in San Francisco, they couldn’t find my reservation. So I showed them my booking confirmation from booking.com, and lo and behold, they found a room for me.
