Reasons to use hotel booking sites

So if there is a problem, they will often give preference to people who have booked through booking sites rather than people who have booked directly with the hotel. When I checked into a hotel in San Francisco, they couldn’t find my reservation. So I showed them my booking confirmation from booking.com, and lo and behold, they found a room for me.
